Mediterranean Sandwiches To Try This Summer

Summer is equivalent to the sea. There is no better way to deal with the sun than to do it immersed in salt water, and then let yourself be dried by the light morning or evening breeze. Not everyone, however, has a house not far from the sea: to make the hours of car, bus or train fruitful, you decide to spend the whole day on the beach, including lunchtime. Many, in order not to turn to bars and restaurants and avoid an excess of fridge bags, crockery and supplies, resort to Mediterranean sandwiches: but if you have in mind to spend more than a couple of days at the sea, the classic tuna and tomato and ham and cheese will soon come to boredom.

Here are some sandwiches you try

With sausages:

The first idea is certainly not revolutionary, almost everyone has sausages in the refrigerator. Few, however, think of putting them in a sandwich that is not a hot dog weighed down by sauerkraut and mayonnaise. In the case of a lunch by the sea, you need something lighter but no less tasty: then cut the sausages in half and grill them, put them between two slices of white bread and enrich them with water-rich vegetables such as cucumbers, tomatoes, arugula and spinach. Finish the work with a slightly spicy sauce, such as worchester or mustard beans.

Mortadella and figs:

Another ingredient often present in the house can become original with the addition of a sweet component. With a knife remove the peel of the figs, cut them into thin slices and arrange them together with the mortadella, a few drops of balsamic vinegar cream and a tablespoon of stracciatella or the inside of the burrata. Use wholemeal bread, to strengthen the sweet-salty contrast.

From home:

The fridge actually has many more resources than you think. Is roast leftover? Put it in the sandwich, in slices as thin as possible. Use its sauce as a sauce and, considering that the result could be quite salty, add a slightly seasoned asiago cheese and lots of fresh vegetables, such as lettuce and tomatoes.

With chicken:

Even the chicken salad, which you thought you would bring in a separate tray, can find a place between two slices of bread and save you containers and cutlery. In this case, the dish already contains all the necessary meat and vegetables, you only need a sauce to prevent them from escaping from the sandwich before being bitten. You can prepare a fresh and light one by mixing greek yogurt, mayonnaise, olive oil and a pinch of salt. Add, if you like, also a bit of mustard.

From the north seas:

The Mediterranean, with its tranquility and warm waters, attracts tourists from all over northern Europe, but from the northern coasts, some good ideas for lunch can come. Use black rye bread in thin slices to make sandwiches with smoked salmon, avocado slices, a drizzle of lemon juice, and butter softened and mixed with dill or thyme. If you prefer, you can replace the butter with a yogurt sauce.

From the abyss:

In italy the marine-themed sandwiches are obviously not far behind. The sandwich with roasted octopus and potatoes is a classic of the apulian festivals, it requires a longer preparation than the other proposals listed so far, because the octopus must be boiled and then grilled together with the potatoes cut into thin slices; but with proper preparation satisfaction is assured. Used a durum wheat sandwich and complete with a few tablespoons of green sauce.

Apples and cheese:

a combination that guarantees a refreshing and tasty lunch. Use crispy and juicy apples such as granny smith or fuji, divide them into slices about half a centimeter thick and accompany them with soft cheddar cheese and a few leaves of lettuce. Use white sandwich bread. If you wish, you can also add a couple of slices of turkey breast.

With peaches:

For a vegetarian sandwich, peaches are as suitable as grilled vegetables. Choose compact ones, such as nectarines, and accompany them with brie and arugula, inside a multigrain sandwich. If you want to make the flavor more intense, prepare a yogurt sauce with oil, salt and a pinch of chili powder.

With parmesan cheese:

The truth is that sandwiches have never completely convinced you: what’s wrong with bringing dishes to the beach? To save appearances and meet the needs of family members, however, you have given in to bread: stuff it then as in the preparation of parmigiana, with fried eggplant, tomato sauce, mozzarella and basil leaves. Just make sure that the sauce is thick enough to stay inside the sandwich and if you prefer a lighter version, just grill eggplants and sliced tomatoes.
